For lack of a better site, this is the unofficial home page of the unofficial PPTP Linux client project. If you would like support, I suggest you use our Sourceforge site. The files here are just links to the sourceforge site. Also on the sourceforge site you can find other cool things like mailing lists, support boards, a bug tracker, and a patch manager (if you're interested in the patch manager you're probably also interested in cvs.).

New release on May 7th! So, here are the goods:

pptp-scripts has been obsoleted by the new version of pptp-linux

This version of pptp-linux adds support for drop-in site specific config files that contain all the info needed to setup a tunnel. You can find an example site specific file here. These files live in /etc/pptp.d/.

These rpms are all built on RedHat 6.2 with updates applied. They should work correctly on updated 6.2 as well as updated 7.0, ppp-mppe includes kernel modules for 2.2.19 on both versions on both architectures. If you use a different verion, feel free to try to build the src.rpm. Let me know if it works, and I'll mention it here. Same if you want to try a different architecture. I have no grudge against non-RedHat Linux. If you can make the rpms work on other RPM based distributions let me know and/or send me patcehs. If you want to build a deb, I'll distribute that too. And if you want to port this package to a non-Linux OS, please do.

We now have a howto describing how to install, setup, and use the pptp client on redhat 6.2. Sadly, it's slightly outdated with this new release. If you're not using redhat 6.2, you can skip to Setting up PPTP with the Command Script which applies to any distribution/OS.

For anonymous cvs access use :pserver:anonymous@pptpclient.cvs.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/pptpclient as your CVSROOT and give a blank password. For authenticated cvs access, get on the pptpclient-devel mailing list (see the sourceforge site). If you need info about anonymous cvs, click here. The module 'pptp' will get you all the sources to build pptp-linux. To get ppp-mppe, first checkout 'scripts' then run fetch-ppp-mppe. Please use compression (-z 9). CPU cycles are cheap. Upstream bandwidth isn't. If you just want to browse the tree, you can use cvsweb.
